Welcome to KNG

Korea is going all-out to lead the world in nanotechnology R&D and related products and industries. Specialists inside and outside of the government believe that this newly emerging field offers another breakthrough opportunity to upgrade Korea's position in global competitiveness.

Based on the Nanotechnology Development Promotion Act, the Korea Nanotechnology Initiative(2001-2010) has been implemented with the latest revision for the period 2006-2015. The public sector is playing a leading role in the promotion of the emerging technology, especially in R&D, infrastructure construction, and education and training programs to support nanotechnology development.

Moreover, a national consensus on the importance of nanotechnology for the future of the Korean economy has been firmly established. The number of start-ups focused on nanotechnology has also increased substantially in the last few years.

Korea's vision and road map for development into one of the world's top three nations in the nanotechnology field focuses on three principal areas: R&D, research infrastructure and human resources. The strategy is to create synergies with innovations in existing fields of excellence to use as a springboard to global nanotechnology competitiveness.
